Bar CodingStill the most accurate way to track inventory, bar codes are placed on all product (pallets and loose cases), physical locations and doors. Any activity with product is recorded via a bar-code scan. This provides complete and immediate inventory knowledge as well as historical traceability. | Radio Frequency TerminalsCDS warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, stand-ups) are equipped with radio-frequency (RF) terminals and scanners to allow for data input and retrieval on the warehouse floor. Handheld terminal/scanners are also used in a similar manner without the need for additional equipment. |
System ReportingCDS' inventory management system provides PC users with up-to-the-minute information via its user interface or reports. Changes made by PC users are reflected immediately in the RF terminals, and vice versa. Inventory Control reports are available in a variety of styles and formats. | Radio Frequency IdentificationRadio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags, while not currently as accurate as bar-code scanning, represent a next-generation technology which will eventually take inventory tracking to a more immediate level. CDS is working closely with systems vendors and clients to incorporate RFID when and where needed. |
